A Safehouse Story
The Outreach Foundation has been fueling Christ’s mission among the Persian-speaking community that lives in diaspora and Iran. We have developed several trusted partners and each year we are able to visit them in Europe and Türkiye where they are providing incredible life-transforming ministry among Muslims and first-generation Muslim background believers. The following stories highlight the work of Safehouse, based in The Netherlands, under the direction of Dariush.
Sara’s Story
Sara was no stranger to hardship in Iran, as life had dealt her many difficulties. She felt isolated and alone, desperately searching for something to fill the void within her. One day, as she scrolled through social media, Sara stumbled upon our online ministry dedicated to sharing the love and hope of Jesus Christ. She experienced connections with other seekers from her homeland and together they journeyed through Bible studies, worship, video chats, discussions, and sharing of testimonies.
Sara had discovered Safehouse: a safe space where she could ask questions, share her struggles, and receive support from those who understood and cared. She found solace in this online community's prayers and encouragement, learning to lean on God's promises and trust in His faithfulness. Safehouse equipped Sara with tools to navigate depression, isolation, and torment from an oppressive regime. The Christian faith is the bedrock of these tools, and she discovered a renewed sense of purpose and deep-seated joy that transcended her circumstances.
What began as a social media search has resulted in her walking with the Lord. Now she serves in this online community as a source of inspiration and encouragement to others seeking hope during their own struggles.
Looking ahead for Safehouse
The next several months are going to be busy for Dariush and his team. Activities include seminars and retreats in Türkiye, where they meet Persian-speaking refugees from their home countries. Dariush will be leading a conference at an undisclosed location for young leaders of the Safehouse ministry in Iran. These activities are in addition to Dariush’s production work for SAT-7 and maintaining a robust online ministry.
