Pakistan Christian Recording Ministries Update August 2024
A PCRM story: fueling Pakistan’s youth for Christ
The Outreach Foundation is pleased to share a wonderful story from our faithful partner in Pakistan: Pakistan Christian Recording Ministries (PCRM). 64% of Pakistan’s population is under 30 and increasingly becoming disenchanted with the economic, political, and religious systems in their country. PCRM is finding ways to reach the hearts of the majority population and working to deepen the connections with Jesus among believers. It is notoriously challenging work and is often met with threats and persecution. Every success is a significant triumph surrounded by prayer and God’s mercy.
We celebrated that on International Youth Day (August 1). PCRM hosted 60 youth (those under 30) for its own International Youth Day gathering. PCRM staff emphasized the critical role of youth in bringing people into a relationship with the Lord and fostering spiritual growth among their communities. Such transformation is at the heart of PCRM’s conviction to transform Pakistani society and help people make Jesus known to their neighbors. The gathering featured several opportunities for youth to realize their potential in God’s work.
Opportunities included worship, career counseling, intercessory prayer, Bible study, games, and plenty of good Punjabi food. Anyone who has been to Pakistan knows full well the rich music that is folded into worship, and the singing of Psalms transforms our understanding of how Psalms were meant to be delivered to the people. Input from career counselors provided much-needed direction in a context where unemployment is over 50%. Director Reverend Akash Emmanuel led the Bible studies focusing on 2 Corinthians 5:11-21. Such studies are not just about information but seek to help Christians live in practical ways as they hope to be faithful amidst persecution.
Some of the students shared testimonies about their experiences as followers of Jesus. They spoke about the impact of serving others and spreading God’s love. These testimonies energized others present to renew their commitments to witnessing about Jesus with greater boldness. We are thankful for partners in Pakistan like PCRM, who are committed to the call of following the Lord despite the risks involved.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Akash asks for our prayers that their work will continue to bear fruit among the youth, that their efforts to make Jesus’ name known among the majority population will increase, and that resources and friendships from the global community will fuel them.
