Musahala - A Ministry of Reconciliation - July 2013 Update

Musalaha July 2013 update.jpg

Dear Friends,

We would like to share with you some of the things God has been doing in our ministry:

Lausanne Initiative for Reconciliation

During the Lausanne Global Leadership Forum held in India in June, Richard Harvey, Lisa Loden, Munther Isaac, and Musalaha Director Salim J. Munayer drafted a proposal for reconciliation, which was accepted by the Lausanne Committee. The vision of this initiative is to promote reconciliation within the body of Christ and our wider communities in Israel and Palestine by creating a network that encourages models of gospel-based, Christ-centered reconciliation that will have prophetic impact in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Theology of Reconciliation

Salim and Lisa Loden, a Musalaha board member, have finished writing a book called Through My Enemy’s Eyes: Envisioning Reconciliation in Israel-Palestine. The book, published by Paternoster, is scheduled for release in 2014.

Summer Camps

We were happy to have a large team of local leaders for our summer camps. The first camp was held in the town of Zebabdeh from July 8-12. The second, the largest and our camp for Israeli and Palestinian children, took place July 22-26.

Women’s Department

The Beit Asaph congregation in Netanya hosted our women’s event on July 14. We are excited that this initiative has been taken on by both the women of Beit Asaph and our women’s department as we are expanding the network of women who have not been previously involved in reconciliation.

Young Adult’s Department

We are grateful registration was quickly filled for the Young Adult’s Historical Narrative Training. This group of 35 will be heading to Germany September 19-25. Please pray for the planning and teaching preparation for this training.

Salim’s Travels

Salim will be traveling to the U.S.A. at the end of the year. If you would like for him to speak in your church or to your organization, please email us at musalaha@netvision.net.il. Salim will be in: Southern California November 29-December 2; Philadelphia at a forum at Eastern University December 3-6; North Carolina December 7-12.
