Holistic Evangelism in Tete Province, Mozambique Update May 2024

Friends,

We have received wonderful news from our partner leading holistic evangelism in Tete Province, Mozambique. Renovations have been completed at the Khanga Medical Clinic and the cornerstone laid for a new school and church in the rural village of Monequera.

Quality health services for patients including pregnant mothers are crucial to everyday life in all parts of the world, Tete Province being no different. It’s hard, however, to give proper medical care without up-to-date clinics for doctors to treat patients, which is why the renovations done at the Khanga Medical Clinic are so vital. The clinic underwent renovations to upgrade the water system with a new solar version, install solar panels to help power the clinic, and renovate staff housing to include a new staff kitchen. As you can see, these renovations look great and are already helping serve and support many people in Khanga.

We are also excited to report that a second school and church will be constructed in Monequera by the end of this year. Many villagers know that education is the way to escape the pervading poverty in the rural areas of Tete Province. As the saying goes in Africa, “If you educate a girl, you educate an entire village.” As you can see in this photo, different officials helped lay the cornerstone as a symbol of the start of the project.

Projects like these are possible thanks to partner churches like First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville, GA, and First Presbyterian Church of Wetumpka, AL. Thanks to these generous congregations, our holistic evangelism partnership in Tete Province can have access to the funding needed to continue fueling the global mission of Christ in Mozambique. If you or your church want to help make holistic evangelism a reality throughout the rural areas of Mozambique, we welcome your gifts!

We regularly receive updates like these from Project Coordinator, Sebber Banda, who works to oversee these projects from start to finish. In addition to periodic updates, teams often travel to Tete Province to view projects in person and help with projects when able. Due to COVID-19, travel to Tete Province was halted in 2020 but resumes this year with a small team of Outreach trustees and staff making a trip this summer. We ask that you pray for Outreach trustee Berry Long and his wife Elizabeth, trustee Tom McDow, and Executive Director Mark Mueller who will be visiting Tete Province in July. We pray that they make it safely and can assess Tete Province’s accessibility for future Outreach Foundation trips.
