Israel/Lebanon/Palestine Appeal Update April 2024
Our friends at the Pastoral, Outreach, and Mission Council (POMC) with the Synod of the Nile in Egypt, continue to do God’s work in the Middle East. POMC helps revitalize existing churches, plant new churches, and send missionaries across the globe to places where God’s hope and love are most needed. And now, a major portion of their outreach is helping those in Palestine as POMC addresses critical humanitarian needs for vulnerable populations in the region.
Over 500 families have had meals provided for them while more than 300 mattresses have been distributed in and around Palestine. Comfortable bedding provides an improved quality of life for individuals and families alike. Many of these Palestinian families have been visited by members of POMC, where heartfelt prayers and support are given. Through prayer and outreach, they hope to uplift and empower these families, reinforcing their commitment to stand alongside them in their journey toward hope and healing.
Twenty apartments have been furnished, specifically to accommodate Palestinian refugees. Each apartment has been meticulously equipped to provide a comfortable and supportive living environment, featuring essential amenities such as beds, blankets, heaters, and kitchen supplies. By ensuring access to basic necessities and functional living spaces, POMC aims to facilitate a smooth transition and empower refugees on their journey toward rebuilding their lives.
POMC has supported medical aid tents and hospitals in the region as they provide medication and medical supplies necessary for treating wounded patients, as well as clothing and footwear. POMC is also providing personalized assistance to patients, addressing their individual needs and requirements such as providing nutritious meals tailored to individual needs and donating 14 wheelchairs to those with mobility issues.
Providing basic needs is just one of the many ways POMC serves God’s people in the Middle East. Last month, four Sudanese pastors were ordained and commissioned to enhance the Sudanese Church. Each of these pastors will provide pastoral care to the Sudanese community, serving as a beacon of God’s light and hope while also providing biblical teaching. In addition to ordaining these four Sudanese pastors, POMC is helping the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo allocate graduates to various churches across Egypt. POMC is dedicated to raising a new generation of leaders in the Church across the Middle East, and we here at The Outreach Foundation could not be more excited about this work!
POMC asks for prayers for brothers and sisters in Palestine, for God’s provision of essential needs to be met through a blessing of heavenly peace amid the ongoing war. They would also like prayers of discernment and divine guidance as they seek to spread the gospel by caring for God’s people. POMC wants God to empower them to address not only medical needs but also psychological and physical needs, extending compassion to those in need.
