CCAP Zambia — Training Pastors at Chasefu Theological College
The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP), Synod of Zambia was constituted in 1984 with four ordained ministers, six congregations, and two presbyteries. The church continues to preach the Gospel and provide education, clean drinking water, agricultural services, children's ministry, and many other services. Well-trained pastors are needed to keep these ministries going. Ministers were previously trained in Malawi but in 2007, the church started its own school, Chasefu Theological College, with 16 students.
With support from The Outreach Foundation, Chasefu provides training in diploma and certificate programs. More than 70 ministers have been educated and are currently serving in the CCAP Synod of Zambia, Harare-Zimbabwe, and Livingstonia-Malawi. Our ministers have even been able to work in far-off areas including Kazembe, Chibale, and Chama where many are afraid to serve. Chasefu has a good reputation and has produced well-disciplined, spiritual, skilled ministers. We have seen the impact on the communities they serve.
We are also grateful that our ministers receive Community Health Evangelism training as well as agriculture, savings, health, and entrepreneurship instruction. It has helped them to be self-sustaining and enabled them to withstand hard times and serve as examples to the community.
Your generous support is making a difference in the lives of individuals and communities. I would like to share an inspiring update focusing on the training and work of Evangelist Justone Kumwenda.
Evangelist Justone Kumwenda came from a community where faith played a central role, yet resources and formal training for religious leaders were limited. We were able to provide Evangelist Justone with training in evangelism, pastoral care, and community engagement. Since completing training, Evangelist Justone has become a beacon of hope and transformation within his congregation. The training equipped him with the skills, theological insights, and practical tools to navigate the diverse challenges faced by his community. His dedication to community engagement has led to an increase in attendance, a deepening of spiritual connections, and a tangible sense of positive change. He has initiated outreach programs including community service projects, educational support for children, and assistance to those in need. These initiatives have impacted the wider community, fostering goodwill and a positive perception of the congregation.
Witnessing the transformative impact of Evangelist Justone's training reinforces the critical need to encourage and expand similar programs. Your ongoing support is very important in empowering more individuals like Evangelist Justone to become effective leaders, advocates, and sources of positive change within their communities.
Our next update will include a transformative story about the remarkable journey of a minister’s spouse! We express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support, which continues to be the driving force behind stories of hope and transformation. Together, we are making a lasting impact.
