Thank you from Ukraine

Standing with the least of these, with Jesus

We do not know his name, but we know this child on a cot pictured here is among the thousands of special needs children living in Ukraine who are unable to leave. For them, their only hope comes out of the church. Through the incredible generosity of donors and congregations, The Outreach Foundation has helped to supply critical medical support throughout Ukraine. The medical supplies originate from outside Ukraine, collected in Romania by our partner Beni Husarciuc (a Cru staff person) who drives them to another partner, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Lviv. From there, the medical supplies are moved to the central hospital in Lviv and dispersed to a number of remote medical units. Because of the personal way this is being done we are able to receive pictures and stories.

Relief supplies move out from Lviv to remote villages where conflict is fresh and wounds run deep. Few people come to these areas, but people like Beni are showing up. As a result, we have these pictures to share with you.

Today’s story is one of sheer gratitude. What you are doing with us is enabling physicians, priests, and so many volunteers like Beni to stand with the least of these, with Jesus. You are giving not just money, but hope itself expressed in the way Christians can be present with those who are suffering. For them, this is not just about humanitarian relief, which is important. They also stop to listen, pray, and give comfort. So, from the bottom of their hearts, we say for them what they can’t tell you in person: thank you.

The Opportunity

The war in Ukraine is ongoing, but so are your financial gifts! These gifts have made so many forms of relief possible, all in the name of Jesus. Here’s just a sample of what you are doing with us:

•       You are helping a small team of women provide 11,000 Ukrainian children with Christian online education.

•       You are helping a church and seminary make refugees comfortable in home-like settings.

•       You are enabling Christians to share the gospel in an integrated approach (material needs and spiritual) during a time when people are very open to God’s Word and Jesus’ love.

•       You are providing advanced medical care for women and children who need more than the basics that government systems are giving.

•       You are helping people like Beni show up when we cannot.

•       You are making sure that a church in Lviv is able to stand as a light in the darkness as they provide care to tens of thousands of refugees.

•       You are helping the medical community in Ukraine fulfill their calling.
