Making a Dream a Reality

The new Leadership Training Center continues to take shape in the village of Tchessa in Tete Province, Mozambique. The concrete floor for the dormitory/reception area/bathroom facilities is nearly complete, and work on the walls will soon start. A church that will double as the classroom has been rebuilt. A well has been dug. A kitchen/dining area has been constructed. Praise God for this remarkable progress!

The Presbyterian Church in Tete Province has a shortage of pastors. There are only four part time tent-making pastors for more than sixty churches. Leadership training for the male and female elders, evangelists, and youth leaders who help direct the week-to-week activities of the congregations is extremely vital for the health and growth of the church. These lay leaders will gather at the new Leadership Training Center to take advantage of the more than a dozen training workshops and seminars designed and led by the leaders of the Holistic Evangelism Project, Rev. Nedson Zulu and nurse Sebber Banda. The Center, when completed, will offer some basic amenities that were previously not available, such as sleeping quarters with beds (imagine folks carrying their own sleeping mats as they walked to a church conference), bathrooms with running water, and a cooking and dining area. We are excited about this new facility and the opportunities it will afford the dedicated lay leaders.

Thanks to the vision and generosity of a very special donor with a heart for equipping church leaders in developing countries, a dollar for dollar matching fund for the Leadership Training Center was set up. Gifts to help complete the Center are still urgently needed. Approximately $40,000 of the Center’s matching fund is still available, so if we receive an additional $40,000 in donations it will equate to $80,000. This dream to build a center for the equipping of lay leaders in Tete Province has come a long way. Help us to finish making this dream a reality!
