Ghana #1: Akwaaba! Welcome to Ghana!

by Jeff Ritchie

The Outreach Foundation trip to Ghana has begun! Composed exclusively of disciples from Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beach, FL, we departed February 20 and arrived in Accra early afternoon the next day. Our hosts in Ghana, The Sanneh Institute, welcomed us at the airport and saw to it that we got to our lodgings at the Guest House of the University of Ghana.

Later that afternoon, Sanneh Institute Director, the Rev. Dr. John Azumah, welcomed us personally over supper. With him was Ms. Ruth Addo, who has helped us with all the logistics of this 11-day trip.

The motto of The Sanneh Institute, “Our roots are deep, as is our love of neighbor,” captures the spirit of this new center for academic studies in Islam and Christianity, whose purpose is to be a catalyst for collaborative efforts by people of different faiths to promote the common good.
