Travelers Preparing to Depart for Tete Province, Mozambique

A hearty group of ten travelers is preparing to depart for Tete Province, Mozambique on Monday, June 8 on a trip sponsored by The Outreach Foundation, Franklin, Tenn.  The 10 day trip will take the group to both Malawi and Mozambique, with a change of planes in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The itinerary includes overland travel to various cities and villages to experience the Tete Province Holistic Evangelism Project.  The project, begun in 1998, was started and is led by Nedson Zulu and Seber Banda.  Travelers will have the opportunity to visit some of the more than 70 churches that have been built as well as numerous well projects, clinics, schools, public health and education programs, and more.  One of the highlights of the trip will be a visit to the new Leadership Training Center in Tchessa, which is currently being built while funds are being raised.  With only two "tent making" pastors serving the 70+ churches, empowering and training lay leaders is a key to the project's evangelism efforts.

A view of the landscape of Mozambique

The team represents four states, including Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and Virginia.  Please pray for the team members, asking the Lord to provide traveling mercies, healthy bodies, open eyes to see the work He is doing there, and to be an encouragement to those they meet. By name, the travelers are:  Tom, Donovan, Beth, Elaney, Grace, Heidi, Berry, Elizabeth, and Tom.

A warm welcome for the 2013 Tete Province Team

Stay tuned for additional updates.  The team will depart on Monday evening, June 8 and arrive in Mozambique on Wednesday, June 10.  They hope to update the travel blog frequently, but all is dependent upon the availability of wireless signals.  So, please be patient...

Blessings from the Team, and as they say in Mozambique (in the Chichewa language)," Tsalani bwino!"  Stay well!
