The National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon
The National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon has opened four schools, each under the oversight of a local Presbyterian church, to help teach refugee children from Syria. These schools (in Minyara, Tyre, Tripoli, and in the Beqaa Valley at Kab Elias) offer Syrian curriculum to these children who are mostly Muslim and may have never attended school because of the war. The effects of anti-government protests and the pandemic have collapsed the economy and devalued the currency, causing a further impact on these schools, teachers, and refugees.
The Impact
With the local Presbyterian church providing oversight, these four schools have embraced the fragile, displaced refugees in their midst. Also, some Syrian children, with financial assistance, can attend the regular synod schools in Lebanon.
The OPPORTUNITY
The Outreach Foundation is seeking gifts to support the mission and ministry of Hope for Syrian Students. All gifts of any size are welcomed to help educate Syrian children and young people, be they refugees in Lebanon or those who remain as their country rebuilds after a war.
