Celebrate Father’s Day with Outreach

This Father’s Day Outreach has a special project to which you can give a gift in honor of or in memory of your father. After you give a gift, you can even download a special postcard that you can give to your dad to let him know about the gift you have made on his behalf.

Scholarships for Presbyterian Students at PIASS in Rwanda

The biggest request that Outreach receives from our global partners is, ‘Help us train our leaders.’
— Rob Weingartner, Executive Director

The Protestant churches in Rwanda established the School of Theology in Butare in 1970 as a non-denominational Protestant seminary that would meet the needs of the mainline churches of the country: the Presbyterian Church of Rwanda, the Free Methodist Church of Rwanda, the United Baptist Church of Rwanda, and the Anglican Church of Rwanda. It is now a college called the Protestant Institute of Arts and Social Sciences (PIASS), and its mission is to provide well-trained graduates who are inquisitive, solution-oriented, committed and equipped with intellectual tools that enable them to meet specific needs of societies moving to a global, modern, pluralistic world. Enrollment is over 200 students and includes members of Protestant denominations from Burundi and Democratic Republic of Congo. Consequently, PIASS is of tremendous strategic importance to these three countries where the church is growing by leaps and bounds. Scholarships are needed for Presbyterian students. Twelve students (pictured in the group photo on the postcard) are currently supported by U.S. congregations through The Outreach Foundation.
