About Our Partner
BLESSED School, founded by English missionaries in 1868, serves youth and adults with special needs, including Down’s Syndrome, autism, and blindness. The focus is on loving and preparing them for either independent living or contributing to their self-support with skills in carpentry, mosaic artistry, weaving, and other handicrafts as well as cooking or simple mechanics.
Many of the students are non-verbal, and unfamiliar faces and places may cause extreme anxiety, but after time at BLESSED, many of their families are amazed at the positive change in their children. BLESSED School was severely impacted by the explosion in the port of Beirut in 2020, but much of the damage has been repaired and buildings refurbished.
The Impact
At BLESSED, students learn not only reading and math but also life skills like cooking and cleaning. The school has craft shops where students can master mosaics, basket weaving, woodworking skills, or baking. The items they produce are sold and the money goes to the students.
The OPPORTUNITY
The Outreach Foundation is seeking gifts to support the mission and ministry of BLESSED School. All gifts of any size are welcomed to help set up new workshops for skills development and to provide scholarships for students.
