2020 Alternative Christmas Gifts

“…God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” — 1 John 5:11

As we celebrate the birth of God’s greatest gift to us, please consider delighting your friends and family with a gift which supports one of the ministry opportunities listed below. We will send you a unique (blank) card which reflects the gift (along with a brief explanation of the gift to include with the card) that you may personalize and send to the person you would like to bless or to include in your own Christmas card.

 Bibles for New Christians

Suggested gift of $20

The Bible is a powerful tool in leading people to Christ and the foundation for growing in the faith for every Christian. But in many places, Bibles are not available or are too expensive to obtain. It is especially important that new Christians have access to God’s Word in their own language.

Your gift of $20 can provide God’s sacred word to someone in any of several strategic places including China, South Sudan and Egypt.

Food Relief in Venezuela

Suggested gift of $30

Once an oil-rich nation, Venezuela has been plunged into an economic and political crisis causing one in six Venezuelans to flee the country since 2015. Those left behind face critical shortages of food - Venezuela has now overtaken Haiti as the poorest country in Latin America.

The Presbyterian Church in Venezuela is providing food relief in 7 provinces to 19 congregations, who, in turn, are feeding hundreds in their communities. Your gift of $30 will allow our faith family in Venezuela to feed the hungry in Christ’s name.

Christmas Gifts for Children at Home Of Hope Beirut

Suggested gift of $40

Home of Hope in Beirut is a long-term shelter (in a former elder care home) which currently serves 24 children, between the ages of 7 and 18, who have been exposed to abuse by their primary caregivers or community and are at risk. The children are brought to Home of Hope upon a judicial order and with a protection file. Although most are not Christians, they are lovingly cared for in Christ’s name and given academic support, counseling, and, for the older children, vocational training.

Your gift of $40 will provide a special Christmas for each child, including gifts and a holiday meal.
