SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PRESBYTERIAN CHILDREN AT RISK
ZIMBABWE
The Chitemere and Mhondoro secondary schools are like oases in the desert. Chitemere is located in a rural section of Zimbabwe. The school provides a Christian education to over 100 young people. The Outreach Foundation contributed funds to electrify the teachers’ housing, making it possible for teachers to live on campus.
Mhondoro secondary school is also located in a rural section northwest of Harare, Zimbabwe. The school shines like a beacon of hope to the entire area. The young people are bright and happy and are being given a chance to live productive lives.
The schools’ major need is for scholarships for tuition and uniforms for children from the community. For poorer children, including street children, tuition, room and board are needed. A special need is for scholarships for female students. Girls in Zimbabwe are often the most oppressed in society. Education is the best means of transforming the culture.
Minimum goal: $15,000 - Scholarships, uniforms and tuition for local students ($350 each)
